Introduction
Hi, I’m Garrett. I’m a 21 year old rising senior studying finance at The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business. My academic focus is rooted in analytics and strategy, but my drive to build things started a while back when I founded and ran a successful sneaker reselling business.
Traveling and experiencing the world is a huge passion of mine. I love exploring new destinations, experiencing different cultures, and gaining fresh perspectives. That sense of exploration also extends beneath the surface. I’m a certified open water scuba diver with 72 dives, and I have a deep appreciation for marine life and underwater environments. Whether I’m hiking scenic trails, playing a round of golf, or planning my next dive trip, I am always looking to stay active and discover new places.
When I take a break from work and travel, I still like to stay competitive. You can usually find me playing basketball, keeping up with my daily fitness routine, or sitting down at the poker table where I enjoy the strategic challenge of calculating risk and probability. No matter if I’m exploring a new city, pushing myself in the gym, or taking on a new entrepreneurial challenge, I approach everything with that same ambition and focus.
Background
My foundation in finance and business started early. After founding and scaling a successful sneaker reselling business, I took the profits from that venture to open and fund my first IRA at 16. From there, I dove into options trading during high school. Those early experiences and the tough, hands-on lessons that came with them taught me that navigating the markets successfully requires discipline, reliable data, and a strict methodology.
Today, I combine that active market experience with a structured, research-driven approach. I am currently completing my finance degree at Ohio State, where I focus on building my quantitative and analytical expertise. To solidify my technical foundation, I earned my Bloomberg certification and successfully passed both the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) and Series 65 exams.
Putting this methodology into practice, I’ve built and managed a self-directed equity portfolio to $1.15M in value. By identifying fundamentally sound companies at discounted valuations and executing disciplined dollar-cost averaging (investing a fixed amount consistently regardless of market swings), the portfolio delivered a 107.34% cumulative return from August 2023 to August 2026. This strategy successfully outpaced major benchmarks, outperforming the S&P 500 (+74.91%), the NASDAQ (+97.19%), and the Dow Jones Industrial Average (+53.36%) over the same three-year period.

Vision
My main goal going forward is pretty straightforward. I want to consistently generate alpha and beat major benchmarks like the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100. To do that, I stick to a disciplined, research-driven approach. I focus on finding high-quality, financially sound companies that are trading below their actual value, and I keep my risk in check with strict position sizing.
I built this site to be a central hub where I can share my market updates, stock deep dives, and ongoing research. I want to keep this introduction relatively short, but make sure to check back. Tomorrow’s post is going to dive a lot deeper into my actual investment philosophy, how I value companies, and the specific strategies I use to execute my trades.
I am excited to share this journey and my ongoing research with you. If you want to follow along, be sure to subscribe to the blog, and drop a comment below letting me know what stocks or sectors you are currently watching!
